June 22: Dinner Reception for Jim Rogers and Paige Paker
The Yale Club of Singapore organised a cosy dinner reception on 22 June 2007 to welcome Jim Rogers and Paige Parker to Singapore.
The reception was hosted by Hogi & Claudia Hyun at their residence from 7 – 10pm. We were well fed with delectables from Penang Place (well-known for their authentic and absolutely sinful Penang fare) – including classics like Penang Char Kway Teow, Lobak, Enche Kebin, Kerabu Mango and Bubur Chacha – and well watered with wine, champagne and whisky. A tasting of four single malts was conducted at the sidelines of dinner. The dinner reception was also an opportunity for the Club to touch base with a new member of the Yale family – Penny Low - who will be attending Yale as a World Fellow from August – December 2007.
SPECIAL MENTION
Many thanks go to our generous hosts, Hogi & Claudia Hyun, for opening up their home to the Club yet again, picking the tab for dinner and watering our throats with copious amounts of wine and champagne. Special thanks also go to Ping Tan & Liz Yong for playing chauffeur to Jim & Paige; Shelagh Mahbubani and Sarah Ong for handling the reception; Sandi for helping out with the photography; as well as the Hyun’s helpers for helping with the logistics. Thanks also go to Chris Cho, brand ambassador for single malts at Diageo, who supplied the whiskies and conducted the whisky-tasting sessions. Special mention goes to Loc, from the Vietnam Club, who made this event possible by putting the Club in touch with Jim. Last, but not least, many thanks for those who were able to take time out of their busy schedule to join us at the reception.
